tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, member 14 (herpesvirus entry mediator)
Overview
TNFRSF14, also known as HVEM (herpes virus entry mediator), TR2 (TNF receptor like molecule) and ATAR (another TRAF-associated receptor), is a type I membrane protein belonging to the TNF receptor superfamily. This receptor mediates herpes virus entry into cells during infection. TNFRSF14 is able to inhibit the proliferation, activation, and cytokine production of T cells. It has an extracellular domain containing several cysteine-rich repeats and a short cytoplasmic region containing a TRAF (TNF receptor-associated factor) interaction domain. The extracellular domain of TNFRSF14 interacts with the herpes simplex virus envelope glycoprotein D. TNFRSF14 binds two cellular ligands: lymphotoxin alpha and LIGHT. LIGHT is a transmembrane protein expressed and shed from the surface of activated T cells, exhibits inducible expression, and competes with HSV glycoprotein D for HVEM, a receptor expressed by T lymphocytes. The LIGHT:TNFRSF14 interaction controls immune response functions by cell death induction as well as cell activation. TNFRSF14 is expressed by peripheral blood T cells, B cells, monocytes and in various tissues enriched in lymphoid cells.
TNFRSF14 involved in several pathways and played different roles in them. We selected most pathways TNFRSF14 participated on our site, such as Cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction,Herpes simplex infection, which may be useful for your reference. Also, other proteins which involved in the same pathway with TNFRSF14 were listed below. Creative BioMart supplied nearly all the proteins listed, you can search them on our site.
TNFRSF14 has several biochemical functions, for example, protein binding, tumor necrosis factor-activated receptor activity, ubiquitin protein ligase binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by TNFRSF14 itself. We selected most functions TNFRSF14 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with TNFRSF14. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
TNFRSF14 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with TNFRSF14 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of TNFRSF14.
