Description : | HVEM belongs to the TNF Receptor superfamily of transmembrane proteins and plays a role in the activation of T-cells and other lymphocytes. It is expressed in various cells and tissues including spleen, thymus, lung, macrophages, and T-cells. HVEM activation induces a signaling cascade which results in induction of transcription factors NF-kappaB and AP-1. LIGHT (TNFSF14) and TNF-beta (TNFSF1) function as the ligands for HVEM, which can also bind specifically to herpes simplex virus glycoprotein D. Soluble HVEM can act as a "receptor decoy" resulting in inhibition of the activity of the HVEM ligands, LIGHT and TNF-beta. |
Form : | Supplied as a lyophilized powder |
Purity : | >98% pure by SDS PAGE and HPLC |
Sequence : | Region of HVEM protein corresponding to amino acids LPSCKEDEYP VGSECCPKCS PGYRVKEACG ELTGTVCEPC PPGTYIAHLN GLSKCLQCQM CDPAMGLRAS RNCSRTENAV CGCSPGHFCI VQDGDHCAAC RAYATSSPGQ RVQKGGTESQ DTLCQNCPPG TFSPNGTLEE CQHQTKRSCD KTHTCPPCPA PELLGGPSVF LFPPKPKDTL MISRT |
Endotoxin Levels : | Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per ug (1 EU/ug). |
Bioactivity : | Determined by its ability to neutralize 0.25 ng/ml of hTNFbeta induced cytotoxicity on Mouse L929 cells. The expected ED50 for this effect is 1.3-1.9 ug/ml of HVEM-Fc. |
Applications : | Numerous applications are possible with this product and should be tested by the end user under their own laboratory conditions |
Storage : | Store at 4 deg C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 deg C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. |
