The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor receptor family, where amino acid sequence is highly conserved between members and throughout evolution. FGFR family members differ from one another in their ligand affinities and tissue distribution. A full-length representative protein would consist of an extracellular region, composed of three immunoglobulin-like domains, a single hydrophobic membrane-spanning segment and a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain. The extracellular portion of the protein interacts with fibroblast growth factors, setting in motion a cascade of downstream signals, ultimately influencing mitogenesis and differentiation. The genomic organization of this gene, compared to members 1-3, encompasses 18 exons rather than 19 or 20. Although alternative splicing has been observed, there is no evidence that the C-terminal half of the IgIII domain of this protein varies between three alternate forms, as indicated for members 1-3. This particular family member preferentially binds acidic fibroblast growth factor and, although its specific function is unknown, it is overexpressed in gynecological tumor samples, suggesting a role in breast and ovarian tumorigenesis. FGFR4 involved in several pathways and played different roles in them. We selected most pathways FGFR4 participated on our site, such as MAPK signaling pathway,Ras signaling pathway,Rap signaling pathway, which may be useful for your reference. Also, other proteins which involved in the same pathway with FGFR4 were listed below. Creative BioMart supplied nearly all the proteins listed, you can search them on our site.
FGFR4 has several biochemical functions, for example, ATP binding, fibroblast growth factor binding, fibroblast growth factor-activated receptor activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by FGFR4 itself. We selected most functions FGFR4 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with FGFR4. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
FGFR4 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with FGFR4 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of FGFR4.
