Description : The humanApolipoprotein E (APOE), is 299 amino acids long and transports lipoproteins,fat-soluble vitamins, and cholesterol into the lymph system and then into theblood. APOE is synthesized principally in the liver, but has also been foundin other tissues such as the brain, kidneys, and spleen. In the nervoussystem, non-neuronal cell types, most notably astroglia and microglia, arethe primary producers of APOE, while neurons preferentially express thereceptors for APOE. Concentration in normal plasma is 5 mg/dl. APOE isinvolved with triglyceride, phospholipid, cholesteryl ester, and cholesteroltransport in and out of cells and is a ligand for LDL receptors.
Form : Liquid in 75mM PBSpH 7.4 + 75 mM NaCL + 0.5 M EDTA.
Molecular Weight : 34-37 kDa
Purity : > 98% by SDS-PAGE
Concentration : Typically 1 mg/mL
Storage : Store at -20 oC. Avoidrepeated freeze-thaw cycles.
