Description : | Human APOA2 is one of a family of evolutionarilyrelated proteins which play a crucial role in lipid transport and metabolism. The serum levels of Human APOA2 have been shown to be inversely correlated tothe incidence of coronary heart disease and its expression to be limited tothe liver and intestine. APOA2 is the second most abundant protein of thehigh density lipoprotein particles. The protein is found in plasma as amonomer, homodimer, or heterodimer with apolipoprotein D. Defects in thisgene may result in APOA2 deficiency or hypercholesterolemia. |
