• Description: Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) represents one of the main autoantigenic targets in autoimmune thyroid disease of humans. Its identity with the formerly so-called `microsomal antigen` has been shown several years ago. As an integral membrane glycoprotein it is restricted to the apical plasma membrane of the follicular epithelial cells and comprises two identical subunits of approx. 100 kDa molecular weight. The hemoprotein TPO plays a key role in the thyroid hormone biosynthesis by catalysing both the iodination of tyrosyl residues and the coupling of iodotyrosyl residues in thyroglobulin (TG) to form precursors of the thyroid hormones T4 and T3.
• Form: Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
• Bio-activity: The activity was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of MO7e cells, the EC50 is 3.8 ng/mL.
• Molecular Mass: 80-85kDa
• Purity: Greater than 95% as obsereved by SDS-PAGE.
• Storage: Lyophilized Thrombopoietin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 centigrade. Upon reconstitution TPO should be stored at 4 centigrade between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 centigrade.
  For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
  Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
• Storage Buffer: The TPO protein was filtered (0.2μm) and lyophilized from 0.73mg/ml in 1xPBS.
• Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Thrombopoietin in sterile PBS containing 0.1% endotoxin-free recombinant HSA.
