Description : | Interferon β is one of the type I interferons produced by fibroblasts in response to stimulation by live or inactivated virus or by double-stranded RNA. It is a cytokine with antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulating activity. The synthesis of IFN-β can be induced by common inducers of interferons, including viruses, double-stranded RNA, and microorganisms. It is induced also by some cytokines such as TNF and IL-1. Recombinant human IFN-β 1b produced inE. coliis a single, non-glycosylated form of human Interferon β1b polypeptide chain containing 165 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 18.511 kDa. The Interferon β gene was cloned from human fibroblasts and altered to substitute Serine for the Cysteine residue found at position 17. IFN- 1b is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. |
Source : | E. coli. |
Endotoxin : | Less than 0.1 ng/μg (IEU/μg) of IFN-β. |
Purity : | ≥98% by SDS-PAGE, RP-HPLC and FPLC. |

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionIFNB1 is generally not recommended for individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to interferons or other components of the drug. It should be used with caution in patients with certain pre-existing medical conditions.
IFNB1 is being investigated for its potential role in cancer treatment due to its immunomodulatory effects. Clinical trials are ongoing to evaluate its efficacy in various types of cancer.
Common side effects include flu-like symptoms, injection site reactions, and changes in blood cell counts. Serious side effects are rare but can include liver problems and allergic reactions.
IFNB1 is often administered through subcutaneous or intramuscular injections. The frequency and dosage depend on the specific condition being treated.
IFNB1 is also used in the treatment of certain viral infections, such as hepatitis B and C. It has antiviral properties that can inhibit viral replication.
