NOS3

Official Full Name
nitric oxide synthase 3 -
Overview
Endothelial NOS (eNOS), also known as nitric oxide synthase 3 (NOS3) or constitutive NOS (cNOS), is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the NOS3 gene. Endothelial NOS is a nitric oxide synthase that generates NO in blood vessels and is involved with regulating vascular tone by inhibiting smooth muscle contraction and platelet aggregation. A constitutive Ca2+ dependent NOS provides a basal release of NO. eNOS is associated with plasma membranes surrounding cells and the membranes of Golgi bodies within cells. -

Protein Function
NOS3 has several biochemical functions, for example, FMN binding,NADP binding,NADPH-hemoprotein reductase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by NOS3 itself. We selected most functions NOS3 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with NOS3. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
