Description : GHR, also known as growth hormone receptor, is a member of the cytokine receptor superfamily. GHR forms a complex with a tyrosine kinase, suggesting involvement of a ligand-activated tyrosine kinase in intracellular signaling by growth hormone (GH). Binding of GH to its receptor results in dimerization of the receptor, phosphorylation of the tyrosine kinase JAK2 and of the receptor, followed by a cascade of protein phosphorylations.
