• Description: Cathepsin E is an intracellular aspartic protease of the pepsin family that has been reported to be involved in the cleavage of the Swedish mutant of amyloid precursor protein (APP). Due to glycosylation the apparent molecular weight of the dimer is ~100 kDa under non-reducing conditions. Requires activation prior to use.
• Purity: ≥95 by SDS-PAGE.
• Form: Liquid. In 75 mM NaCl, 12.5 mM MES, 50% glycerol, pH 6.5, sterile-filtered. Please refer to vial label for lot-specific concentration.
• Recommended Reaction Conditions: Activation Protocol: Pre-incubate Cathepsin E for 15 min. at room temperature, at a concentration of 1 µg/ml in 50 mM sodium acetate buffer, pH 3.5, containing 100 mM NaCl. Activity: Optimal activity is achieved in 50 mM sodium acetate buffer, pH 3.5, containing 100 mM NaCl, room temperature.
• Endotoxins: ≤1.0 EU/µg enzyme.
• Specific Activity: ≥8 units/μg.
