• Description: This gene encodes the mu subunit of the clathrin adaptor protein complex AP-2. It mediates sorting of cargo proteins harboring Y-X-X-Phi motifs into clathrin-coated vesicles. Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 2, 8 and 19.
