Description : Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases 1, also known as TIMP1 is a widely expressed, secreted protein that functions primarily to inhibit members of a large family of metalloproteinases (MPs). Because of the ability of TIMP-1 to inhibit MPs, it functions in many of the same pathophysiological processes as these enzymes, e.g. wound healing, ovulation, angiogenesis, and cancer cell metastasis. TIMP-1 can also stimulate proliferation and cellular anabolic processes. TIMP-1 is a novel negative regulator of HGF activity during liver regeneration. Overexpression of TIMP-1 could promote renal interstitial fibrosis through the inflammatory pathway, which might be partly induced by upregulating ICAM-1.
Molecular Weight : The predicted molecular weight of Recombinant Human TIMP-1 is Mr 20.6 kDa. However, the actual molecular weight as observed by migration on SDS Page is Mr 28-30 kDa.
State Of Matter : Lyophilized.
Purity : >95% by SDS Page and analyzed by silver stain.
Endotoxin : <1.0 EU/µg as determined by the LAL method.
Storage And Stability : This lyophilized protein is stable for six to twelve months when stored desiccated at -20℃ to -70℃. After aseptic reconstitution, this protein may be stored at 2℃ to 8℃ for one month or at -20℃ to -70℃ in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles. See Product Insert for exact lot specific storage instructions.
