Description : | CDK8 (cyclin-dependent kinase 8; protein kinase K35; CDK8 protein kinase; cell division protein kinase 8; K35) is a member of the cyclin-dependent protein kinase (CDK) family. CDK family members are highly similar to the gene products of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cdc28, and Schizosaccharomyces pombe cdc2, and are known to be important regulators of cell cycle progression. This kinase and its regulatory subunit cyclin C are components of the RNA polymerase II holoenzyme complex, which phosphorylates the carboxy-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II. This kinase has also been shown to regulate transcription by targeting the CDK7/cyclin H subunits of the general transcription initiation factor IIH (TFIIH), thus providing a link between the "Mediator-like" protein complexes and the basal transcription machinery. |
Purity : | Greater than 90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. |
Formulation : | CDK8 is supplied at 0.1mg/ml in a buffer containing 25 mM HEPES, pH 7.9, 125mM KCI, 0.5% TX-100 and 50% glycerol. |
Application : | CDK-8can be used directly as a positive control in Western blotting, ELISA, immunoprecipitation and other immunological experiments. The biological activity of this product has not yet been tested. |
Storage : | Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 1-2 weeks. Store, frozen at -20°C for longer periods of time. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles. |
