Description : | C5R1 belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family and is a receptor for the chemotactic and inflammatory peptide anaphylatoxin C5a. It stimulates chemotaxis, granule enzyme release and superoxide anion production.Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems. G proteins are composed of 3 units; alpha, beta and gamma. The alpha chain contains the guanine nucleotide binding site. The beta and gamma chains are required for the GTPase activity, for replacement of GDP by GTP, and for G protein-effector interaction. |
