Description : Bcl-2 is the prototype for a family of mammalian genes and the proteins they produce. They govern mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization (MOMP) and can be either pro-apoptotic (Bax, BAD, Bak and Bok among others) or anti-apoptotic (including Bcl-2 proper, Bcl-xL, and Bcl-w, among an assortment of others). There are a total of 25 genes in the Bcl-2 family known to date. Bcl-2 derives its name from B-cell lymphoma 2, as it is the second member of a range of proteins initially described as a reciprocal gene translocation in chromosomes 14 and 18 in follicular lymphomas.
Physical Appearance : Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Purity : Greater than 95.0% as determined by: (a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Analysis by reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE Silver Stained gel.
Formulation : The protein contains 10mM Tris-HCL pH-8, 1mM EDTA and 250mM NaCl.
Solubility : It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized rHuBcl-2 in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Endotoxin : Less than 0.1 ng/µg (IEU/µg) of rHuBcl-2.
Applications : Input marker or positive control (Western Blotting). Function study (binding assay).
Storage : Lyophilized rHuBcl-2 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18℃. Upon reconstitution rHuInsulin should be stored at 4℃ between 2-7 days and for future use below -18℃. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
