• Description: IL1B is apro-inflammatory cytokine secreted by many different cell types which actsupon a wide range of target cells, resulting in a diverse range of effects.The biological properties of IL1B include the induction of B cellproliferation, stimulation of T cell proliferation in conjunction with IL-2and the production of collagenase and prostaglandin by fibroblasts. IL1B isalso responsible for triggering the acute-phase response in the liver, and isinvolved in both cytokine network and vascular endothelium activation.
