• Product Overview: Clostridium protease is a collagenase-related double-chain protease isolated from Clostridium histolytica. Highly limited substrate specificity for Arg-Xaa peptide bonds. Therefore, clostridium protease has been explored as a potential protein sequencing enzyme. It has also been studied as a catalyst for the condensation of pharmaceutically important peptides containing Arg-Pro bonds. Activation depends on dithiothreitol, cysteine, or other agents containing sulfhydryl groups. The enzyme is inhibited by oxidants and sulfhydryl reactants as well as Co2+, Cu2+, Cd2+ and heavy metal ions.

It is also used for the restricted digestion of T4 bacteriophage DNA polymerase.
