Description : | PDHB, also known aspyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component subunit beta, mitochondrial or PDHE1-B isan enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PDHB gene. The PDHB is anuclear-encoded mitochondrial multienzyme complex that catalyzes the overallconversion of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA and CO2, and provides the primary linkbetween glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. The PDH complex iscomposed of multiple copies of three enzymatic components: pyruvatedehydrogenase (E1), dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase (E2) and lipoamidedehydrogenase (E3). The E1 enzyme is a heterotetramer of two alpha and twobeta subunits. This gene encodes the E1 beta subunit. |
