• Description: Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a 45-60 kDa homodimeric cytokine that functions principally in the eosinophil arm of the Th2 response. It is a member of the helical bundle family of cytokines, along with IL-3, IL-4, and granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF).

• Bio-activity: Measure by its ability to induce TF-1 cells proliferation. The ED50 for this effect is < 0.2 ng/mL. The specific activity of recombinant mouse IL-5 is > 5 × 10⁶ IU/mg.
