Description : | This gene encodes a member of the semaphorin family, a group of proteins characterized by the presence of a conserved semaphorin (sema) domain. Whereas some semaphorins are transmembrane proteins, others are secreted. Semaphorins play a major role in axon guidance. The protein encoded by this gene may be involved in both peripheral and central nervous system development. |

Molecular Mass : | The mature recombinant human Semaphprin 6B/Fc chimera, generated by proteolytic removal of the signal peptide region, is a homodimeric protein. Based on N-terminal sequencing, the mature recombinant human Semaphorin 6B protein starts at Leu 26. The monomer of the recombinant human Semaphorin 6B has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 63.4 kDa. As a result of glycosylation, the recombinant protein migrates as an approximately 110 - 120 kDa protein in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. |
