Description : Meprinsare multimeric proteases composed of α and β subunits, which are members ofthe astacin family of zinc endopeptidases. Both subunits form disulfide-linkedhomo-or eterooligomers, which are also referred to as Merpin A (composed of αsubunits with or without β subunits) and MEP1B (composedof β subunits only). Although the two subunits share 42% identity in theiramino acid sequence, they differ significantly in their oligomeric structure, posttranslational processing and subsequently cellular location, andsubstrate and peptide bond specificity.
Form : Supplied as a 0.2 μmfiltered solution in Tris, NaCl and Glycerol.
N-terminalSequence : Leu21 & Thr23
MolecularWeight : 66 kDa
Activity : Measuredby its ability to cleave a fluorogenic peptide substrate, McaSEVNLDAEFRK(Dpn)RR-NH2,The specific activity is > 350 pmoles/min/μg, as measured under thedescribed conditions.
Endotoxin Level : <1.0EU per 1μg of the protein by the LAL method.
SDS-PAGE : 85 kDa,reducing conditions.
Purity : >95%,by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions and visualized by silver stain.
Storage : Use amanual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freezethaw cycles. 6 monthsfrom date of receipt, -20 to -70°C as supplied. 3 months,-20to-70°C under sterile conditions after opening.
