• Description: Urate oxidase also called uricase urate oxygen, oxidoreductase, catalyzes the enzymatic oxidation of uric acid into allantoin, an inactive and soluble metabolite.

• Purity: Greater than 95.0% as determined by: (a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
• Formulation: Each 1.5 mg urate oxidase contains 5 mg sucrose, 25 mg glycine, 0.1 mg Tween-80, 13.6 mg Na2HPO4*12H20 and 0.33 mg NaH2PO4*2H20.
• Biological Activity: The specific activity was found to be 18 U/mg. One Unit oxidizes one micromole of uric acid per minute at 30°C, at pH 8.9.
• Solubility: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized UOX in sterile 18 MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
• Stability: Lyophilized UOX although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution UOX should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
