Description : IL‐17B is a member of the IL‐17 family of cytokines, which is comprised of six proteins (IL‐17A through IL‐17F). IL‐17 proteins are proinflammatory and induce local cytokine production as well as regulate immune functions. Unlike the other IL‐17 family members, which are disulfide‐linked dimers, IL‐17B is a non‐covalently linked dimer. Mouse and human IL‐17B are highly homologous, exhibiting an 88% amino acid sequence identity between them. Amongst the IL‐17 family, mouse IL‐17B is most closely related to mouse IL‐17D. Present in a variety of tissues, IL‐17B is most highly expressed in the spinal cord. Reports have linked IL‐17B with TNF‐αproduction and the exacerbation of inflammatory arthritis.
