• Description: Il11 issecreted by bone marrow stromal cells (fibroblasts)and is produced also bya number of mesenchymal cells. The Il11receptor (alpha chain) utilizes gp130 as its signal transducer, which isalso a component of other cytokine receptors. The alpha chain of the Il11receptor has been identified independently as Etl2. Il11promotes primary and secondary immune responses in vitro and in vivo andmodulates antigen-specific antibody reactions.

• Biological Activity: The ED(50) wasdetermined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of murineT11 cells is ≤ 1.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of ≥ 1 x 106units/mg.
• Endotoxin: Endotoxin contentwas assayed using a LAL gel clot method. Endotoxin level was found to be lessthan 0.1 ng/µg(1EU/µg).
• Reconstitution: A quick spin of thevial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration notless than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
• Storage: The lyophilized protein is stable forat least 2 years from date of receipt at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, thiscytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2°C - 8°C for one month, or at-20°C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss ofactivity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
