Description : | CarboxypeptidaseE (CPE), also known as Carboxypeptidase H or enkephalin convertase.Carboxypeptidase E cleaves C-terminal amino acid residues and is involved inneuropeptide processing. It is a peripheral membrane protein. CPEspecifically binds regulated secretory pathway proteins, includingprohormones, but not constitutively secreted proteins. Carboxypeptidase Eappears to have several functions. The active form of carboxypeptidase E wasshown to be in secretory vesicles, where it acts as an exopeptidase toactivate neuropeptides, It does that by cleaving off basic C-terminal aminoacids, producing the active form of the peptide. Products of carboxypeptidaseE include insulin, enkephalin, and most other neuroendocrine peptides. It hasalso been proposed that membrane-associated carboxypeptidase E acts as asorting signal for regulated secretory proteins in the trans-Golgi network ofthe pituitary and in secretory granules; regulated secretory proteins aremostly hormones and neuropeptides. Mice with mutant carboxypeptidase E Cpe,display endocrine disorders like obesity and infertility. |
Tag : | C-His |
Form : | Bulk protein in a0.22 μm filtered solution of PBS, pH 7.4 and delivered as liquid formulationor lyophilized powder. Normally 5-8% trehalose and mannitol are added asprotectants before lyophilization. |
Purity : | >95% asdetermined by SDS-PAGE. All lots are greater than 95% pure. |
Storage : | Store at -20°C in lyophilizedstate after receipt. For long term storage, upon reconstitution rmCPE shouldbe aliquot and store at -20°C or -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |
Reconstitution : | It is recommended that sterile water be added to the vial to prepare a stock solution of 0.2 ug/ul. Centrifuge the vial at 4°C before opening to recover the entire contents. |
