• Description: Polypeptide N-Acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-Like Protein 3 (WBSCR17) belongs to the glycosyltransferase 2 family and GalNAc-T subfamily. WBSCR17 is a single-pass type II membrane protein which contains one ricin B-type lectin domain. WBSCR17 is highly expressed in brain and heart, weakly in kidney, liver, lung, and spleen. WBSCR17 may catalyze the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, the transfer of an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine residue to a serine or threonine residue on the protein receptor. Defects in WBSCR17 are caused of a multisystem developmental disorder.
