It contains one Tudor domain with significant similarity to SMN (Survival Motor Neuron) and is expressed in skeletal muscle, pancreas and heart, localizing to Cajal bodies and nuclear speckles. Mutations in which are cause of autosomal recessive proximal spinal muscular atrophy.
