Description : | Endocrine cells of the lung. Under normal expression conditions, procalcitonin is immediately cleaved into three specific fragments, an N terminal residue, calcitonin and katacalcin. Levels of unprocessed procalcitonin rise significantly after bacterial infection, trauma or shock. Calcitonin causes a rapid but short-lived drop in the level of calcium and phosphate in blood by promoting the incorporation of these ions in bone. |
Form : | Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in PBS (pH 7.4) with BSA as a carrier protein. |
Endotoxin : | < 1.0 eu per μg of the protein as determined by the LAL method. |
Purity : | >95 % as determined by SDS-PAGE |
Applications : | Western blotting, ELISA |
Storage : | Store under sterile conditions at -20℃. Upon reconstitution, recommend to aliquot the protein into smaller quantities for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |
Storage Buffer : | Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose and mannitol are added as protectants before lyophilization. |
