Description : | This gene encodes a G-protein coupled receptor for gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP), which was originally identified as an activity in gut extracts that inhibited gastric acid secretion and gastrin release, but subsequently was demonstrated to stimulate insulin release in the presence of elevated glucose. Mice lacking this gene exhibit higher blood glucose levels with impaired initial insulin response after oral glucose load. Defect in this gene thus may contribute to the pathogenesis of diabetes. |
Molecular Mass : | 53 kDa |
Storage : | Upon receiving, store the sample at -20ºC. Lysate samples are stable for 12 months from date of receipt when stored at -20ºC. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.Lysate samples can be diluted with 2xSDS Sample Buffer provided. After dilution, the protein sample should be aliquoted and stored at -20ºC for long term storage. Prior to SDS-PAGE fractionation, boil the lysate for 5 minutes. |
