Description : | UBA1 (UniProt/Swiss-Prot entry P22314) is catalyzes the first step in ubiquitin conjugation to mark cellular proteins for degradation. It activates ubiquitin by adenylating the C-terminal glycine residue with ATP and subsequently linking the adenylated glycine to the side chain of a cysteine residue in E1 thereby forming a ubiquitin-E1 thioester. UBA1 is also required for DNA repair response to replication stress. |
