Rat Transferrin

Cat.No. : Tf-4816R
Product Overview : Product is the lyophilized powder of rat transferrin and buffer salts. Rat transferrin is purified from pooled rat serum using multi-step procedures which may include salt fractionation, gel filtration, ion-exchange chromatography and immunoabsorption. The product is dialyzed into 0.01M sodium phosphate, 0.07M sodium chloride, pH 7.3, filtered through a 0.22 µm filter, vialed and lyophilized. No preservative has been added.

Description : Tf are iron-binding blood plasma glycoproteins that control the level of free iron in biological fluids. In humans, it is encoded by the Tf gene. Tf is a glycoprotein that binds iron very tightly but reversibly. Although iron bound to transferrin is less than 0.1% (4 mg) of the total body iron, it is the most important iron pool, with the highest rate of turnover (25 mg/24 h). Tf has a molecular weight of around 80 kDa and contains 2 specific high-affinity Fe(III) binding sites.
Source : Purified
Species : Rat
Specifications : The product is tested for purity at a minimum of 20 mg/ml using immunoelectrophoresis. No trace of other serum proteins is detected. The total protein is determined using the Biuret procedure, with bovine albumin as the standard. Each vial is overfilled by approximately 10 percent so that a minimum of 10 mg of rat transferrin is obtained upon reconstitution.
Reconstition : Reconstitute product with 1 ml of deionized or distilled water. Gentle swirling may be used to speed rehydration. Avoid vigorous shaking of the reconstituted material.
Warning And Caution : This product is intended FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY, not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures involving humans or animals.
Storage : Store unopened product at 2-8°C. Store reconstituted material no longer than a few days at 2-8°C unless sodium azide is added. For long-term storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C.
