Description : | Cystatin C or cystatin 3 (formerly gamma trace, post-gamma-globulin or neuroendocrine basic polypeptide), a protein encoded by the CST3 gene, is mainly used as a biomarker of kidney function. Recently, it has been studied for its role in predicting new-onset or deteriorating cardiovascular disease. |
Usage : | The material is primarily inteded to be used to calibrate serum-based protein standards and control materials used for the quantification of cystatin C by immunoassay. When the material is used as a calibrant in a particular assay the commutability should be verified for the assay concerned. The entire content of the vial must be reconstituted. |
Quality Control Test : | Particle enhanced immuno-turbidimetry, particle enhanced immuno-nephelometry and single radial immuno-diffusion |
Notes : | Avoid swallowing of the material as well as prolonged and repeated contact with skin. Do not discharge the waste into the drain. Each portion of donated blood used in the production of the material has been tested for the presence of HBs antigen, HCV antibodies and for HIV1/HIV2 antibodies and found to be negative. However, the product must be handled with adequate care as any material of human origin. It is intended for "in vitro" measurement only. |
Storage : | Unopened vials should be stored at or below -20 °C. Under the condition that any microbial contamination during the reconstitution procedure has been excluded, the solution of ERM-DA471/IFCC can be used for one week. The reconstituted material should be stored at 2-8 °C.However, the European Commission cannot be held responsible for changes that happen during storage of the material at the customer's premises, especially of opened vials. |
Concentration : | Cystain C: 5.48 mg/L |
