Description : LIF is a pleiotropic member of the IL6 family of cytokines produced by multiple cell types, including T cells, myelomonocytic lineages, fibroblasts, liver, heart and melanoma. LIF functions through a heterodimeric receptor complex containing a ligand binding subunit, LIF Rlex containing a ligand and melanoma with complex effects. LIF either induces or inhibits differentiation in different cell environments. LIF promotes long-term maintenance of pluripotency in embryonic stem cells by suppressing spontaneous differentiation. Other activities include the stimulation of protein synthesis by hepatocytes, and differentiation of cholinergic nerves acute phase protein synthesis by hepatocytes, stimulation of differentiation of cholinergic nerves, and suppression of adipogenesis by inhibiting the lipoprotein lipase in adipocytes.
Bio-activity : The activity was measured by M1 cell differentiation assay. ED50 for this effect is typically 0.5 ng/mL.
Molecular Mass : 20 kDa (monomer)
Endotoxin : <1 EU/ μg
Purity : >95% by SDS-PAGE
Stability : Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. In general: 12 months from date of receipt, -20 to -80 centigrade as supplied. 1 month, 2 to 8 centigrade under sterile conditions after reconstitution. 3 months, -20 to -80 centigrade under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
Storage Buffer : Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in PBS without carrier protein
Reconstitution : Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the protein in sterile PBS containing 0.1% endotoxin-free recombinant human serum albumin.
