Description : | Ghr, also known assomatotropin, is a member of a family of growth factors that includesprolactin, placental lactogens, proliferins and somatolactin. It issynthesized primarily by somatotropes in the anterior pituitary and isreleased as an endocrine hormone. Other cells and tissues, including lymphoidtissues, can also produce Ghr. Ghr is a pleiotropic molecule which can actdirectly or indirectly via IGFI to regulate growth and metabolism as well asenhance T cell survival and thymic functions. |

Molecular Weight : | 55.4 kDa |
Activity : | Measuredby its ability to inhibit Ghinduced proliferation of Nb2-11 rat lymphomacells. Gout, P.W. et al. (1980) Cancer Res. 40:2433. The ED50 for this effectis typically 4-16 ng/mL in the presence of 0.2 ng/mL of rhGhr. |
