Description : Ghr, also known assomatotropin, is a member of a family of growth factors that includesprolactin, placental lactogens, proliferins and somatolactin. It issynthesized primarily by somatotropes in the anterior pituitary and isreleased as an endocrine hormone. Other cells and tissues, including lymphoidtissues, can also produce Ghr. Ghr is a pleiotropic molecule which can actdirectly or indirectly via IGFI to regulate growth and metabolism as well asenhance T cell survival and thymic functions.
Form : Lyophilized from a0.2 μm filtered solution in PBS.
N-terminalSequence : Thr25 & Ile98
Molecular Weight : 55.4 kDa
Activity : Measuredby its ability to inhibit Ghinduced proliferation of Nb2-11 rat lymphomacells. Gout, P.W. et al. (1980) Cancer Res. 40:2433. The ED50 for this effectis typically 4-16 ng/mL in the presence of 0.2 ng/mL of rhGhr.
Endotoxin Level : <1.0 EUper 1 μg of the protein by the LAL method.
SDS-PAGE : 70-75kDa, reducing conditions
Purity : >90%,by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions and visualized by silver stain.
Reconstitution : Reconstituteat 100 μg/mL in sterile PBS
Storage : Use a manualdefrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. 12 months from date ofreceipt, -20 to -70°C as supplied. 1 month, 2 to 8 °C under sterile conditionsafter reconstitution. 3 months, -20 to -70°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
