Description : |
Human IL-16 was originally described as Lymphocyte Chemoattractant Factor (LCF), is produced primarily by CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cells and acts as a chemoattractant for lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, dendritic cells and Langerhans cells. |
Form : |
Human IL-16 was lyophilized at 1 mg/ml in 10 mM NaP, 7.5. |
Purity : |
Purity Greater than 95% as determined by: Analysis by RP-HPLC. Reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. |
Bio-activity : |
The ED50 as determined by its ability to chemoattract human CD4+ T lymphocytes using a concentration range of 10-100 ng/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity greater than 1000 IU/mg. |
Physical Appearance : |
Sterile Filtered white lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. |
Solubility : |
Centrifuge vial before opening. When reconstituting the product, gently pipet and wash down the sides of the vial to ensure full recovery of the protein into solution. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized product with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg"s/ml, which can be further diluted into other aqueous solutions. |
Purity Greater than 95% as determined by : |
Analysis by RP-HPLC. Reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. |
Protein Content determined by : |
UV spectroscopy at 280 nm. Analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard. |
Endotoxin Level : |
Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug. |

Storage : |
Lyophilized Interleukin-16 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution IL16 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). |
