• Description: Interleukin 18 (IL-18), previously known as interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma)-inducing factor, is an activator of NK cells and a co-inducer of Th1 cytokines. IL-18 is produced from Kupffer cells, activated macrophages, keratinocytes, intestinal epithelial cells, osteoblasts, adrenal cortex cells and murine diencephalon.

• Bio-activity: Measured by its ability to induce IFN-gamma secretion using KG-1 human myeloid leukemia cells in the presence of TNF-alpha (20 ng/ml). The ED50 for this effect is < 0.85 ug/ml.
