Description : This gene is a member of the alpha interferon gene cluster on chromosome 9. The encoded protein is a cytokine produced in response to viral infection. Use of the recombinant form of this protein has been shown to be effective in reducing the symptoms and duration of the common cold.

Bio-activity : The specific activity as determined in a viral resistance assay using VSV-WISH cells and was found to be 5.0 x 10^6 IU/mg.

Storage : Lyophilized form is stable at room temperature for 3 weeks. Keep desiccated at below -18°C for long term storage. After reconstituted, store at 4°C for 2-7 days or at below -18°C for up to 3 months.
Reconstitution : Reconstitute lyophilized powder with PBS to no less than 100 μg/ml, which can be further diluted in other desired aqueous solutions.
