Description : In enzymology, a tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase (EC 1.13.11.11) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionL-tryptophan + O2 = N-formyl-L-kynurenineThus, the two substrates of this enzyme are L-tryptophan and O2, whereas its product is N-formyl-L-kynurenine. This enzyme participates in tryptophan metabolism.
Form : Liquid. In 50mM sodium phosphate pH 8.0, containing 0.15M sodium chloride, 0.2M imidazole and 10% glycerol.
Bio-activity : Specific activity towards L-Trp: 87.0μmol/hr per mg. TDO catalyzes the oxidative opening of the L-tryptophan indole moiety to yield N-formylkynurenine (NFK).
Molecular Mass : ~47.9kDa
Endotoxin : N/A
Purity : ≥98% (SDS-PAGE)
Applications : Can be used to test potential kynurenine pathway inhibitors in the mosquito, by continuously monitoring the rate of NFK formation at 321nm (ε=3152/M cm) in in vitro spectrophotometric assays.
Stability : Stable for at least 6 months after receipt when stored at -80°C.
Storage : Short Term Storage: -20°CLong Term Storage: -80°CAfter opening, prepare aliquots and store at -80°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
