• Description: FSH is a heterodimeric glycoprotein hormone composed of α and β chains. The α chain has 89 amino acids and the β chain has 115 amino acids. The α chain is not active. The biological specificity is attributed to the β chain. FSH induces maturation ofGraafian follicles of the ovary, promotes development of germinal cells in males, and activates cytosolic tyrosine kinase.
