Description : Fibronectin is a high-molecular weight (~440kDa) extracellular matrix glycoprotein that binds to membrane-spanning receptor proteins called integrins.[1] In addition to integrins, fibronectin also binds extracellular matrix components such as collagen, fibrin and heparan sulfate proteoglycans (e.g. syndecans). Fibronectin exists as a dimer, consisting of two nearly identical monomers linked by a pair of disulfide bonds. The fibronectin protein is produced from a single gene, but alternative splicing of its pre-mRNA leads to the creation of several isoforms.
Source : bovine plasma
Species : Bovine
Form : Supplied as a 0.2 μm filtered solution in 0.4 M Urea, 50 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.5) and 0.5 M NaCl, at a concentration of 1.36 mg/mL.
Bio-activity : Measured by its ability to support cell attachment and spreading when used as a substratum for cell culture. In this application, the recommended concentration for this effect is typically 1 - 5 μg/cm2. Fibronectin can also be added in the media to support cell spreading at a concentration of 0.5 - 50 μg/mL.
Endotoxin : <1.0 eu per 1 μg of the protein by the lal</1.0
Purity : >90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and visualized by silver stain.
Applications : Adherent Cell Assays
Usage : FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY
Quality Control Test : Samples are stable for up to six months at 2 - 8 centigrade. Avoid vortexing and excessive agitation. Aliquot into 50 μL to 100 μL volumes and store at ≤ -20 centigrade for up to six months in a manual defrost freezer.
Concentration : 1.36 mg/mL
Warning : Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
