Description : Tumor necrosis factor (TNF, cachexin or cachectin and formally known as tumor necrosis factor-alpha) is a cytokine involved in systemic inflammation and is a member of a group of cytokines that stimulate the acute phase reaction. The primary role of TNF is in the regulation of immune cells. TNF is able to induce apoptotic cell death, to induce inflammation, and to inhibit tumorigenesis and viral replication. Dysregulation of TNF production has been implicated in a variety of human diseases, as well as cancer. Recombinant TNF is used as an immunostimulant under the INN tasonermin.
Purity : ≥95% (SDS-PAGE).
Concentration : 1mg/ml after reconstitution.
Formulation : Lyophilized. Contains PBS.
Specificity : TNF-α binds to human, mouse and rat TNF-R1 and TNF-R2. In the presence of cross-linking enhancer TNF-α preferentially binds to human, mouse and rat TNF-R2.
Reconstitution : Reconstitute the contents of each tube with 50µl sterile distilled water. Further dilutions should be made with medium containing 5% fetal calf serum.
Stability : Stable for at least 6 months after receipt when stored at -20°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
