• Description: Family with sequence similarity 3, member C (FAM3C), is an approximately 25 kDa secreted protein in the FA group of molecules. Members of this family share a four helix bundle secondary structure similar to that found in many cytokines. Mature mouse FAM3C shares 94% and 97% amin acid sequence identity with human and rat FAM3C, respectively. It is widely expressed, notably in the nonsensory epithelium of auditory semicircular canals and in the photoreceptor layer of the retina.
