Description : PTGDS is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PTGDS gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a glutathione-independent prostaglandin D synthase that catalyzes the conversion of prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) to prostaglandin D2 (PGD2). PGD2 functions as a neuromodulator as well as a trophic factor in the central nervous system. PGD2 is also involved in smooth muscle contraction/relaxation and is a potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation. This gene is preferentially expressed in brain. Studies with transgenic mice overexpressing this gene suggest that this gene may be also involved in the regulation of non-rapid eye movement sleep.
Form : Filtered (0, 4 μm) and lyophilized in 0.5 mg/mL in 20 mM Tris buffer, 20 mM NaCl, pH 7.5
Research topic : Energy metabolism and body weight regulation
Purity : >95%
Reconstitution : Add deionized water to prepare a working stock solution of approximately 0.5 mg/mL and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. Product is not sterile! Please filter the product by an appropriate sterile filter before using it in the cell culture.
Applications : Western blotting
Quality Control Test : BCA to determine quantity of the protein; SDS PAGE to determine purity of the protein
Sequences of amino acids : MRGSHHHHHH GMASAPEAQV SVQPNFQQDK FLGRWFSAGL ASNSSWLREK KAALSMCKSV VAPATDGGLN LTSTFLRKNQ CETRTMLLQP AGSLGSYSYR SPHWGSTYSV SVVETDYDQY ALLYSQGSKG PGEDFRMATL YSRTQTPRAE LKEKFTAFCK AQGFTEDTIV FLPQTDKCMT EQ
Storage : Store lyophilized protein at -20°C. Lyophilized protein remains stable until the expiry date when stored at -20°C. Aliquot reconstituted protein to avoid repeated freezing/thawing cycles and store at -80°C for long term storage. Reconstituted protein can be stored at 4°C for a limited period of time; it does not show any change after one week at 4°C.
