• Description: MANF is a trophic factor for midbrain dopamine neurons in vivo. It prevents the 6-OHDA- induced degeneration of dopamine neurons in rodent models of Parkinson’s disease. When administered after 6-OHDA-lesioning it restores the dopaminergic function and prevents degeneration of dopamine neurons in substantia nigra pars compacta.

• Bio-activity: Protein is biologically active. Suitable for cell culture and in vivo testing. Human recombinant MANF has been tested in rat 6-OHDA model of Parkinson's disease and shown neureprotection and neurorestoration. MANF has also shown neuroprotection in animal models of stroke.
• Molecular Mass: Approximately 18.1 kDa, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 158 amino acids.
• Endotoxin: Less than 1EU/mg of protein as determined by LAL method.
• Storage: Store at -70 centigrade upon receipt. Recommended to aliquot into smaller quantities. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
