• Description: The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The protein encoded by this gene is an S-type lectin. It is overexpressed in Hodgkin's disease tissue and might participate in the interaction between the H&RS cells with their surrounding cells and might thus play a role in the pathogenesis of this disease and/or its ass centigradeiated immunodeficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.

• Storage Buffer: Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4. Normally 5%-8% trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween 80 are added as protectants before lyophilization.
• Reconstitution: It is recommended that sterile water be added to the vial to prepare a stock solution of 0.2 μg/μL. Centrifuge the vial at 4 centigrade before opening to recover the entire contents.
