Description : EPHA3 (ephrin type-Areceptor 3) is a protein that inhumans is encoded by the EPHA3 gene. This gene belongs to the ephrin receptorsubfamily of the protein-tyrosine kinase family. EPH and EPH-related receptorshave been implicated in mediating developmental events, particularly in thenervous system. Receptors in the EPH subfamily typically have a single kinasedomain and an extracellular region containing a Cys-rich domain and 2fibronectin type III repeats. The ephrin receptors are divided into 2 groupsbased on the similarity of their extracellular domain sequences and theiraffinities for binding ephrin-A and ephrin-B ligands.
