Description : | Human CCL23, also designated CK-beta-8, Macrophage inflammatory protein 3 (MIP-3), Myeloid progenitor inhibitory factor 1 (MPIF-1) and small-inducible cytokine A23, attracts monocytes, resting T-lymphocytes, and neutrophils through activation of the G protein-coupled receptor CCR1. Alternative splicing results in a second isoform 116 amino acids in length. Additional proteolytic processing at the N terminus (e.g. CCL23 25-99) reportedly yields a more potent form of the chemokine. |
