Description : BMPs (bonemorphogenetic proteins) belong to the TGF-β superfamily of structurallyrelated signaling proteins. As implied by their name, BMPs promote andregulate bone development, growth, remodeling and repair, in both prenataldevelopment and postnatal growth of eye, heart, kidney, skin, and othertissues.
Form : Sterile filtered andlyophilized without additives.
Purity : >98% by SDS-PAGEand HPLC analyses.
MolecularWeight : Mixture of monomer(15 kDa), dimer (30 kDa), and multimers.
Endotoxin Level : < 0.1 ng/μg ofprotein
Biological Activity : The ED50as determined by dose-dependent induction of alkaline phosphatase activitywith C2C12 cells is in the range of 2-12 μg/ml.
Reconstitution : Centrifuge vialprior to opening. Reconstitute to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml in sterile20 mM acetic acid. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueousbuffers and stored at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for future use.
Storage : The lyophilizedprotein is best-stored desiccated below 0°C. Reconstituted BMP-4 should bestored in working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage, it is recommendedto add a carrier protein (0.1% BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
OfficialSymbol : BMP6
Pathways : BMP receptorsignaling; Endochondral Ossification; Hedgehog signaling pathway; IdSignaling Pathway; TGF-beta signaling pathway
