Description : | Chemokine ligand 4 (CCL4) is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family that is commonly known as MIP-1 beta. There are at least 27 distinct members of the C-C subgroup reported for mammals. They are characterized by two adjacent cysteines. CC chemokines induce the migration of monocytes and other cell types such as NK cells and dendritic cells. CCL4 (MIP-1 beta) is a chemoattractant for natural killer cells, monocytes and a variety of other immune cells. CCL4 is involved in several inflammatory and autoimmune diseases including viral infection such as HIV-1/AIDS. |
