• Background: A majority (95%) of all rat B cells express the Igκ light chain. Anti-Rat Kappa MicroBeads bind equally well to the Ig light chain allotypes Igκ-1a and Igκ-1b. Together with the Ig heavy chain, the Ig light chain is expressed on the surface of immature IgM+IgD- B cells. Furthermore, it is present on mature IgM+IgD+ B cells and memory B cells, and is down-regulated on activated B cells upon terminal differentiation into plasma cells.
• Application: B cells isolated with Anti-Rat Kappa MicroBeads from peripheral lymphoid organs or non-hematopoietic tissues are suitable for in vivo and in vitro studies on B cell development, differentiation, and migration. Highly pure B cell populations are also required for reliable cellular and molecular analyses, for example, of Ig gene rearrangement.
